Congratulations Helen & Dougal ~ The Biscuit Factory, Leith

I loved being a part of Helen & Dougal’s wedding day. Right from the outset they planned a day that, I feel reflected who they are. Both as individuals, and as a couple, I think they created a celebration of their wedding that was unique to them. They chose to stay in the same hotel, the morning of their wedding and travel together in the taxi .. Their parents started the ceremony by walking in first, followed by Helen & Dougal . I loved this 😀 And being serenaded by KAZOOS?! GENIUS ! And yes, Helen’s shoes did light up! (check out the photo where Helen’s charging them later on!).

The venue they chose, was a new one to me. The Biscuit Factory Edinburgh .. it was as wonderful as it sounds. Lots of cool dark spaces in the ground floor, and SO much gorgeous light upstairs that streamed in, in the late afternoon. Basically, a photographers dream! That, and how blinking lovely Helen & Dougal are, it was really so much fun being a part of their day. I loved having the chance to work alongside the fab team that is YOURgb !

This blog post is kicking off with the shots I took on my old film camera – take a look below (digital images to follow beneath) . Let the story begin ..

Helen & Dougal on film ~ (click on an image to go large!) These shots were all taken on my old Rolleiflex .. a beautiful old camera from 1955-56 .. how utterly incredible it is, to be shooting with a sixty year old camera! Its always a conversation starter too. You can get 120 film from amazon and eBay really easily .. its just the development costs that are pretty pricey these days. But worth it, I think. You can’t escape the uniqueness and beauty of real film.  All of these shots in the gallery below are shot on Ilford HP5 film.
